Oh my god oh my god I am probably way too excited at this prospect, but, come on, an FPR. A First-Person-Runner/Diver/Climber/Leaper/Misjudge Distance And Faceplant Thirty Feet Down...er. And look at those screenshots. Look at them!

...When did I become so enamoured with first person games? Was it Thief? Did Thief make me this way?

God Given - Nine Inch Nails
Somehow I have memorized all the lyrics of this song, and every time it comes on I have to do this sort of twitching clockwork-y dance and spit the words with all the conviction and contempt I can muster. It's got a rhythm that gets under your skin and into your brain. I love it.

Hey man, please don't make a sound
Take a look around, can't you see what's right in front of you
Have a little taste, no more time to waste
You don't wanna get left behind cause it's all coming down right now

Shalebridge Cradle - Eric Brosius
Maybe it's the hiss of wind through empty corridors, maybe it's the whisper of children long-gone, or the strange sounds of something entirely...else, maybe it's the juddering tick that is something like a clock and something like an unsteady pulse, but this music/noise is essentially why I'm apprehensive about playing TDS again. Eric Brosius was the man who said that fear is made of sound; I believe it. WARNING: Do not listen to this music in the dark, when alone, or at all, if possible.

You Gotta Love This City - The Whitlams
As per request: Whitlams! This song is about how much the subject hates his life, and how it's all right because he loves his city, but then he realises his city is a whore, and it ends with him committing suicide. Thus, it was used in a tourism ad for Sydney, because advertising executives are wacky like that. It has a very laid back, loungey kind of sound.

The houses all the same, now here's the rain
Not falling but collapsing at his feet
Deep breath and he clocks on, raincoat on his arm
He wishes the hours would disappear

Thanks For You Time - Gotye
I described this song to [livejournal.com profile] twilit_wanderer as "one big middle finger to pre-recorded customer service messages", because that is what it is. If you have a pressing desire to hear more or less what my accent sounds like, there is a part where he records himself being annoyed at the phone.

If you wish to make a complaint
We can handle it, we're well prepared to handle it
Of course you may have to wait
But that's understandable
Isn't that understandable?

Air Aid - Menomena
More Menomena! This is one of the more political-y songs (and why is it that I have the urge to adjectivise everything today?) and probably one of their oddest sounding, as well.

Cover your ears, cover your eyes, cover your mouth
silence, blindness, tasteless violence

Enjoy!

Do not listen to this music ... at all, if possible.

I STUPIDLY IGNORED THIS SOUND sorry, unintentional but awful pun, that GOOD ADVICE.

Actually, I was listening to another song and reading at the time and just tossed it into my playlist, so I've no idea when I actually started listening to it, but it suddenly occurred to me that I was not moving and, in fact, barely breathing. So I ended up glancing at winamp, and it informed me I was about four minutes in, so, uh, yeah! Freaky. Then relistening so I could actually, you know, listen to it, made me freeze up again. BECAUSE NOT MOVING WILL ALWAYS SAVE YOU FROM SCARY NOISES.

... Terror aside, I really like the other songs! Especially "Thanks For Your Time," which is awesomeness!

I'm not sure my soul can afford to be broken up too many more times! Ecco destroyed my utterly long ago. And not moving saving me would probably lead to me never moving, ever.

...But perhaps I will look into it once I finally finish Knights of the Old Republic (though I am promising nothing)! Because soul-breaking games are generally the best ones, and I like to inflict such things upon myself, apparently.

Genius! I should get right on that. Possibly I need to find a hero to be my arch nemesis. .... bah, details.

Game stores here are pretty, uh... Lame. And don't carry many (if any at all) used anythings. Fortunately, there is internet. Yay for you, internet, and your vendors! I am... not good, no, I am actually not very good at any games, despite how much I game (dumb gaming luck, however? I have lots), but I manage FPS, usually without too much trouble. My brother is much better. OOH, I CAN BUY A COPY AND MAKE HIM PLAY WHILE I WATCH.
