Why am I replaying Thief 3? WHY AM I REPLAYING THIEF 3? I have other games I should be playing! And DVDs I should be watching! And assignments! And -
Oh, argh, it's actually better than I remember it being before I got all spoiled by the earlier games.
Well, at least I've played it enough times that I can finish it in short order.
...
It's so creepy. I don't remember it being this creepy up until the Cradle.

Date: 2008-10-14 01:29 am (UTC)You should totally post your thoughts on scenes! Then you can claim you're replaying to force me to finish it. Or something.
Where are you at?

Date: 2008-10-14 01:55 am (UTC)I will do that! FINISH THE GAME SO I CAN BABBLE AT YOU, SQUEEM, AND THEN GET BACK TO MY SCHOOLWORK. There's a lot of things I missed, actually, because my screen used to be so dark. And one of them is that the game really is beautiful. St. Edgar's cathedral has these lovely graceful arches, and the House of the Widow has awesome lightning effects, and the Clocktower was just incredible. I wish I could get screens off my X-box.
I am at the endgame, actually. Er - I wasn't kidding when I said I can finish it in short order, it's a lot like the older games where half the challenge is learning where everything is. Mainly now I'm fighting with glitches and my stupid muscle memory thinking I'm playing Half-Life.

Date: 2008-10-14 02:19 am (UTC)OH MAN, the plague-ship, that is so cool. Man! Just. Any game that has that extra little effort put in is awesome. (Isn't there a game where the zombies all look slightly different? Or am I thinking of that river in MGS3?)
You never got to see how beautiful the game is? Man, I'm glad you're having the chance now. I always kept my screen a bit lighter than I was supposed to, since I've had bad experiences with really dark screens before. I really did love some of the scenes in St. Edgar's, including some of the courtyards and rooms with colored smoke. Ooh, ooh, and the Pagan's hideout in Auldale has some really pretty moments too. I will possibly have to play through it again sometime and take tons of screen caps -- I have quite a few from the Cradle, actually,a lthough, uh, sometimes I was too terrified and in a rush to get the ones I wanted.
I am at the endgame, actually.
...I HATE YOU. It takes me so long to do anything. Sigh. I will probably start playing again around December, so, uh, if you have time please start reminding me how awesome the game is then. Because that's when my semester ends and I will have sweet, sweet freedom once again.
Although you're right about the learning where everything is aspect, because it definitely took me a lot shorter time to get through Rutherford castle the second time.
Although I got minorly lost in South Quarter for awhile. That was pretty embarrassing.
