Sep. 17th, 2006 07:50 pmI finished Silent Hill 2 in one great big whump of gameplay that led me from Eddie in the apartments argh pyramid head to the Leave ending.
Quite possibly one of the most horrifying gaming binges I've ever done. And I have done them before. Once by beating the whole of Metal Gear Solid in a single sitting, once doing the same thing with Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and once completing Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, twice, 100 percent, in one afternoon. Yeah! Um, don't ever do that. I don't plan to ever do that again - this of course means I'll probably end up finishing Thief: Deadly Shadows in a single sitting or something, gaaaah.
...Oh man, the ending made me cry, with James sounding so sad (...and sorry if this is ridiculus but also a lot like Otacon in his wavery angst mode, what's with that?) and with the beautiful choral humming and fluttering curtain and awww. Also WAAAAAAAH. Also James you are so effed up, you are crazy crazy crazy like a crazy man's dance.
I love it.
AND MORE THAN EVER I WANT TO SEND RANDOM CHARACTERS TO SILENT HILL.
GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.
(Contemplated how Garrett would react to fog curling through the street of his city and drawing him into a world of grime, blood, darkness and the oppression of guilt. Amused myself picturing him writing snarky messages beneath the graffiti. There was a HOLE here. It's gone now. So what? Do you want it back?)
