If you want to be chronological (I wasn't) you'll have to start hunting up old copies of Thief: The Dark Project. I sacked the second-hand section of my favourite game store for the one I have, and, er, the other one I have that is a special edition SHUT UP I'M NOT OBSESSED but you might have more trouble. How are you at FPS?
