wanna be the house that you were raised in

I have terrible timing, because I'm doing a music meme right when [livejournal.com profile] squeemu goes on hiatus even though I stole it from her.

Uh. Squeem, I beg forgiveness and should you not return before the songs expire, I'll re-upload them for you.

Anyway:

Ship in a Bottle – Bright Eyes
Weirdest Love Song Ever. Includes rhythmic baby-crying noises.

Shadow of the Sun – Audioslave
What, so I can't indulge in some gratuitous angst every now and then? XD This is the kind of music I would use for someone in slow motion going to do some Terrible But Necessary Deed for someone else...please don't ask why. I don't actually know. It's from the movie Collateral but I'm pretty sure the scene it was used in wasn't anything to do with that.

Mechanist – Euji Acha
Less a song and more a continuous mixed hum of different Mechanist machine sounds, with a few voice clips towards the end. It's surprisingly sinister, more so if you've actually played the game – those tinny, nasal whines are much less funny when you know the originator possesses explosive cannon balls and is out for your blood. Or at least your exploded thief bits.

You Sound Like Louis Burdett – The Whitlams
This song is about doing and saying stupid things with your friends while drunk. It's endless fun to sing, and I know all the lyrics. I mean come on, it's The Whitlams. If I didn't like them I'd probably be deported or something.

Special Cases – Massive Attack
Yes, I like tracks that make me space out and groove. How did you guess?

Love Is Not Enough – Nine Inch Nails
This to me says animated opening credits music from some sci-fi vaguely noirish movie. I DON'T DICTATE WHAT MY BRAIN ASSIGNS TO THINGS. It's right there in my head, all flickering grey and scratchy writing.

Passion – Utada Kikaru
...All right, shut up. I know I haven't played Kingdom Hearts. You can blame [livejournal.com profile] rionaleonhart entirely for this, because she linked me to the OMGWTFBBQ opening and I decided to hunt up the music. Don't look at me, I don't know what the hell it's about.

YAY!

Dude. This is like the most diverse mix of music ever. All you're missing is opera or something.

I really like Ship in a Bottle! Well, okay, the crazy baby middle section I'm not sure about yet, but everything else makes me oddly upbeat. And I'm pretty sure you can only write lyrics like that if you're on drugs, or trying to be on drugs.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE WHITLAMS BEFORE BUT MAN, I REALLY LIKE THE SONG. Should I know who Louis Burdett is? Because I don't. Also, I have this thing where songs that have nothing to do with romance, bling, angst, or hos make me indescribably happy.

I think I already told you that Mechanist makes me feel edgy and like my hair's trying to stand on end, and I haven't even played the game.

Also, Special Cases kinda reminds me of some Sneaker Pimps songs I have. I'll see if I can upload them sometime for you. And it's got a really cool mood to it; I'm still trying to figure out what it makes me think of. But something. Hmm.

Odd tastes in music are to be encouraged! I have... well, I think I have a few songs from various operas on my computer, a few country, even a few hip hop. Maybe one rap song even, which embarrasses me much more than the fifty bajillion megabytes of eighties music. Which operas do you have?

Oh! Oh, have you heard "Frontier Psychiatrist?" Because I think you would like it. Cracked out lyrics: yes, oddly repetitive: yes. I enjoy singing along way too much (although, uh, you couldn't really call it "singing." Especially the part with the birds.)

I don't think I have heard those! Clearly this must be remedied. Ahaha, Louis Burdett sounds pretty awesome. Awesome, of course, being a relative terms. And he kind of sounds like the Australian version of Ozzy, who once ate the head off a pigeon (or possibly a bat? I can't remember) during a performance.

I think I have two songs by Massive Attack on my computer somewhere! ...on my old computer, anyway, and I'm too lazy to turn it on and find out which ones. I think one is from the Matrix, though, and the other is from Snatch. And speaking of songs from the Matrix, have you heard Rob Dougan's "Furious Angels?" The one with actual lyrics and singing, anyway, I think there's a version out there that's just the background. Awesome, awesome lyrics.

Anyway! Yes. I will have to upload some music for you, then. :D (Fantastic Noodles is pretty awesome. Is there a story behind this? I'd want to name my band Bony's Diner. Or possibly Boney's, I can't remember which spelling it was.)
