PUT DOWN MY CHILDHOOD AND BACK AWAY SLOWLY

EDIT: And speaking of trendhopping dumbfuckery, Eragon: The Movie has just been released in my country. Normally, I would not give anything even approaching a flying frag, as the sight of the books stacked in bestselling piles outside bookshops fills me with the thunderbolt-hurling rage of a god.

The problem is, I'm tempted to see the movie.

I want to see an airborne battle between dragons on film. I want to see how well the actor who plays Murtagh does him, as the only character in the book I could tolerate. I want to see Alya get poisoned - well, I would have wanted that regardless - and part of me is already tallying up the number of people I know whom I could extort a ticket out of.

SOMEBODY STOP ME. I WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE MONEY TO THIS FRANCHISE. I WILL NOT BE SWAYED BY PRETTY CGI, DAMMIT, EVEN IF I DON'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THE FILTHY FILTHY PROSE.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

Here is what you should do:

Go to the movie. While there, obtain a digital version you can then upload to the Internet and make sure that everyone who would go see it on the big screen instead watches it in the comfort (and cheapness!) of their own home. That way, you will be contributing a negative amount to the franchise.

I'm probably laughing way more than I should at the fact that the ads are actually working, but probably not in the way they intended. Although I don't think I've ever seen any, no clue if we just don't have them in the States or if it's because I never watch TV.

I don't know. Just imagining Hungry Cities as a movie makes me want to explode with glee. I mean, I'd go see it just to see the cities moving and to hear them moving in that incredible bass movie speakers seem to have. And the airships! And the armies! And London exploding! AND THE STALKERS.

IT WOULD BE SO FRAGGING AWESOME.
