Mmm. I like learning to cook, and the fact that what I'm learning to cook is also healthy and pretty nutrionally well-rounded makes me happy. Potato salad? Ooo. It's one of the Wacky Cooking Times, I guess? Man, I oughta look through those. LJ LURKER POWERS - ACTIVATE!

It's a Discworld book, part of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch arc. Commander Samuel Vimes gets sent back in time to his own past, and he has to teach himself how to be a Watchman, in the middle of a revolution, as if it weren't hard enough learning everything the first time. And all right, this will probably make me sound insane, but about halfway through, some background characters appear.

Named the Rutherfords.

And - just -

Bloody hell! I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence, but as if I needed more fuel for the unholy Thief/Discworld crossover theory spawning itself in my mind. (Also, I found out that Terry Pratchett is apparently a big fan of Thief.) My brain is going "LOL MAYBE THE CITY'S FORGOTTEN NAME IS ANKH-MORPORK" and "Garrett vs. Vimes - Greatest Thief That Ever Lived and the Universe's Policeman. Cynic versus cynic, snark against snark. WHO WINS?" and it's crazy, although I'm going to hit somebody with that latter prompt if it's the last thing I do.

Oooh, that's very nice indeed! Thank you! Hmm. Here is an 'interview' with Garrett that I find really rather awesome, if only for him calling the questioner a "strange voyeuristic interviewer". It's written by Terri Brosius; she does a lot of the design and writing work, so it's about as close to canonical as these things ever get. (I - I looked at the slashy picture. Willpower, why hath thou forsaken me. Still, they are one of the few slash pairings I actually can see the basis for, so I didn't mind.W ould you like me to see if I can find some Shadowrun art? I know it's out there, I'd just have to find the links again.)
