Not Father Free

I've come to a conclusion about myself!

It's a remarkably sad conclusion, so no throwing popcorn, please. I can realise how messed within the head I am without outside help.

Anyway.

Here's what I've discovered: I love bastards (bastard in the colloquial sense; not people whose parents were not married). All the characters that I like either were bastards once and redeemed themselves, were nice guys and became bastards or have been bastards and will be bastards throughout their entire screen/page time. Examples: Severus Snape, Otto Octavius, Vincent Valentine, Bernard Black, Auron (he's a bit of a jerk to Tidus, ain't he?), Black Mage, Agent Smith, Jack Sparrow (although he's more of a nice guy than a bastard...but he IS a pirate), Revolver Ocelot, General Grevious, Sheldon Jeffrey Sands (played by Johnny Depp, Once Upon a Time in Mexico; watched it today, liked it very much), Xellos...hell, even Solid Snake himself. What's the matter with me? The only exceptions I can think of are Remus Lupin and Winifred Burkle from Angel, and even she ended up being Illyria.

Hmm. I could probably read something into this, likely involving the words 'deap-seated' and 'early childhood', but I think I'll just dance to my neat music. Wheeee!

I have also come to the conclusion that power is sexy, and Johnny Depp would make an absolutely awesome Xellos. The character Sands essentially IS Xellos, in a real-world kind of way; controls the city without doing much more than dropping pebbles into a pond and watching the ripples go outward, pretends to be nice and isn't really, sadistic, perverted, doesn't mind killing people in the slightest. The only difference is that Xellos never got his eyes cut out. And never became even slightly redeemable...

(That said, the whole thing where he straps on a set of guns, wanders over to a pair of guys, pulls out a pistol and fires wildly 'til he hits them is neat. Sands did that, I mean. Not Xellos.)

Now that I've pretty much dropped my own pebbles into the internet and knowing they won't make even the slightest of ripples, I can go off and do my silly scribblings again. I have characters to refine. ZOOOOOOM!
